Cornerstone Preschool started in 2003. Ms. Debbie Sisley was the Director and Pre-K teacher from its inception until she retired at the end of the 2018-19 school year. Ms. Raquel Zoglman took over as the new Director and Pre-K teacher in the Fall of 2019. Ms. Amy Harris has been the 3-year old teacher since 2003.
To attend the preschool there is a $50 non-refundable fee that must accompany a registration. An additional $100 participation fee is required by the beginning of school. There are no other fees.
All students and their families make a commitment to the school to participate and help in the three main fundraiser events during the school year. The preschool is an outreach ministry of the church. Our goal is to share the love of Jesus with each student.
Each summer in the second week of July, Cornerstone Church Chrisney hosts a week of Vacation Bible School for the children of Chrisney and Spencer County. The classes run in the evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday through Friday. Biblical readings and stories are shared and songs are also learned during their times together. Children from potty trained 3 year olds to 6th graders are welcome. Snacks and crafts are also enjoyed during their time together.
The winter months bring Basketball and Cheerleading to Spencer County children with a Christian perspective. Cornerstone Church Chrisney partners with Upward Sports, a nationwide sports league that helps teach and learn sportsmanship while teaching Christian principles of fairness and love for your fellow man.
Isaiah 117 House is a nonprofit organization which has chapters throughout the United States that provide children a safe and loving place to stay when they have been removed from their home by state or county agencies and face short or long term foster care. The home is located next to our parsonage on County Road 800N.
The Christian Resource Center of Rockport, Indiana exists to coordinate and connect Spencer County residents with resources leading to self-sufficiency. Cornerstone Church Chrisney collaborates with the CRC to assist lower income residents of Spencer County in times of need. Food, clothing and material goods drives for CRC are held throughout the year. Cash donations are provided to CRC throughout the year as well.
Cornerstone Church Chrisney provides a freshly prepared meal to the Chrisney Senior Apartment Residents on the first Monday of the month. The luncheon is prepared in the church and takes place in the Senior Apartment Community Center.
Cornerstone Church Chrisney sends letters, cards and gifts to our young folks who are away at college or in the military. It can be difficult when staying on task during times when you are away from family and friends and under stress. We like to let them know they are thought about and prayed for during these times. During major holidays, finals or at random times cards and gifts are likely to flow out of Chrisney to some far off place.
